As a pest management professional, you know it’s not unheard of for rodents to take up residence in a car. Or for fleas or bed bugs to invade a vehicle’s interior. A Boston.com post entitled, “When Animals Invade Your Car” examines this “fairly uncommon” problem that often occurs when drivers inadvertently park too close to a food source. The article reveals that garages containing bird seed, pet food or water attract rodents, who seek shelter under the hood or inside of a cozy, warm car. However, sometimes the food source is inside the vehicle, so it’s important to periodically rid the interior of crumbs, beverage containers, food wrappers and trash. The most frequent cause I have encountered is frequent fast food drive thru users who spill , leave crumbs . My solution is to place a insect monitor (secure) under the front seats, not for use while driving .
