Traditional insecticides can play an important role in ant management. An important first step is to locate ant trails, nests or mounds and areas where the ants may be expected to forage. From there, it’s all about choosing the most appropriate insecticide and applying it correctly.

The insecticide may be applied to the outside surfaces of labeled structures and into wall voids. It also may be a perimeter application 1 ft. up and 1 ft. out from where the ground meets the foundation. Labeled granular formulations may be used for perimeter applications and fire ant mound treatments. Labeled liquid formulations may be applied indoors and outdoors.
