Rodent control tips to share with clients

The next time a grateful rodent customer asks how to keep rodents out of the house permanently, give them a few preventive tips. In addition to removing food and water sources, your clients should also:

⦁ Seal any holes in exterior and interior walls.

⦁ Make sure all doors and windows are properly sealed.

⦁ Install seals under exterior doors (including the garage) to remove any gaps.

⦁ Reinforce seals around pipes, drains and vents.

⦁ Install smoke caps on chimneys, and inspect regularly for holes, etc.

These steps will help enormously, but you should also encourage your customer to eliminate rodent-friendly habitats outdoors. Steps might include:

⦁ Cut the grass and vegetation around the structure regularly.

⦁ Cut back overhanging bushes and shrubs.

⦁ Get rid of any debris, garbage and/or assorted clutter outside of the house.
