Amorphous silica dust is one of the most effective and longest-lasting products available for bed bug control. It delivers rapid control even on resistant strains and remains viable for up to 10 years when undisturbed. It is also low-toxicity, non-repellent, odorless and non-staining.
One of the best amorphous silica dust application methods for many surfaces is with a paint brush. A 1.5- or 2-inch sash brush works well for most crevices and surfaces, including mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture. Using a paint brush provides precise control of where the dust is applied while minimizing airborne particles.
Load the brush with the desired amount of the dust by lightly working the brush around in a small, labeled secondary dust container. You can also create a small layer of dust using an applicator bottle, handheld duster or electric duster. Work the dust into desired locations with the brush. With some practice and experience, technicians will find this to be an effective method of working the amorphous silica dust into and onto many bed bug harborage sites.
