At this point in the U.S. Presidential race, it’s anyone’s guess who will make it to the White House in 2016. But could Donald Trump be destined for Washington, D.C.? In an effort to predict the outcome of the election, the New Jersey Pest Management Association (NJPMA) used a tried and true method — Madgascar hissing cockroaches — and declared Trump the winner.
The Running of the Roaches dates back to the mid 1990s, USA Today reports, and was held on the Rutgers University campus during NJPMA’s recent annual Clinic, Trade Show and Clambake. The insects were placed in a long, narrow plastic box that resembled a racetrack. To tell them apart, a cartoon cutout of the candidate was taped to the body of each cockroach, and pitted against each other three times. Outspoken candidate Donald Trump placed first out of two races, with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie winning once. Florida’s former governor, Jeb Bush, finished third each time out. The race proved to be 84 percent accurate in the past, so maybe the cockroaches are on to something. Check out the race below:
