Stinging insects include all species in the order Hymenoptera; however, the major concerns are from bees, hornets and wasps. Species range from a solitary lifestyle to full social behavior.

Most species are beneficial; thus, control should be conducted where there is an immediate threat. For ground-nesting species, it is best to conduct treatments during nighttime. An assortment of dusts and liquids can be used. Aerosols tend to have a freezing effect and will render individuals hapless. Using wet foam applications also helps incapacitate individuals. Thicker protective clothing better helps prevent stings.
