Ant stings, however, can inject pain-inducing venom similar to bee or wasp stings. Fire (Solenopsis spp.), harvester and Asian needle (Brachyponera chinensis) ant species are well known for their painful stings, which can induce anaphylactic shock in sensitive individuals.
