Ants encircle cell phoneHave you seen the video that shows ants circling a ringing cell phone? If you missed it, see below. And while you’re at it, let us know what you think because we’re not sure it’s legit. A post on the Nerdist website offers several reasons to suspect the video may be fake. For instance, except for the ants, the objects in the video are out of focus, making them appear as though they were added (“They aren’t Sasquatch,” Nerdist points out). In addition, the ants appear to moving too fast, as if they were animated. Plus, if you watch closely, you can see the ants running through each other as opposed to into each other.

But perhaps the biggest question this video raises is why the ants, which at first are seen randomly scurrying around the phone, suddenly fall into orderly formation once the phone starts ringing. Are the ants reacting to the phone’s sound waves? Are the ants responding to the phone’s electromagnetic properties? Are cell phones actually mind-control devices? Well, the answer to that question is yes, but that doesn’t solve this mystery. Perhaps ants are just as mesmerized by cell phones as humans?
