IN MEMORIAM: Dick Sameth

A Celebration of Life will take place Aug. 24 in Mantoloking, N.J.,

Richard “Dick” Sameth, 88, passed away Aug. 10 in Vero Beach, Fla. The 1996-97 president of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) was a third-generation pest management professional. He was a member of the Pest Management Professional Hall of Fame (Class of 2016), as was his father, J. Edwin Sameth (Class of 1998). In 1928, the elder Sameth founded then-Western Exterminating Co. in Parsippany, N.J., with his father, Maurice, and sister Ailene. Western Pest Services has been a Rollins Inc. brand since 2004.

Dick Sameth is survived by three children and six grandchildren, as well as his brother and longtime Western Pest Services President Bob Sameth. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Polly.

A Celebration of Life will take place Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at St. Simon-by-the-Sea Church, 1324 Ocean Ave., Mantoloking, N.J. A light repast will follow at Bay Head Yacht Club, 111 Metcalfe St., Bay Head, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either St. Simon by-the-Sea Church or the Vero Beach, Fla.-based VNA & Hospice Foundation. The Pest Management Professional staff offers its sincere condolences to Sameth’s family, friends and colleagues.
