Two pest management professionals (PMPs) rescued a long-eared owl (Asio otus) that flew into a building in midtown Manhattan, according to the Associated Press.
While responding to a call, Assured Environments Vice President Barry Beck and employee Paul Abbatantuono found the owl lying outside on a 14th floor offset, the news report says.
Using one of their jackets, the PMPs obtained the bird and brought it to the Wild Bird Fund, a non-profit that rehabilitates sick and injured wildlife in New York City — via subway.
According to the report, the bird healed and was later released in Central Park.
