Scientists in New Zealand have determined that certain chemicals and proteins found in the urine of rats and possums attract other animals. The proteins bond to the chemicals, releasing them slowly and causing them to act as an attractant longer. As a result, the protein-chemical lure may enable an animal to remain in a trap for a longer period of time.
