Cockroaches can be potential vectors for the transmission of human diseases. Pest professionals should consider an integrated pest management (IPM) approach to control that includes:
- Inspection and monitoring. Carry a flashlight and small mirror to allow you to see difficult areas. Monitoring devices installed overnight can help detect cockroaches that can’t be found through visual inspection methods.
- Proper baiting. Ensure bait isn’t stale, old or nonpalatable so cockroaches won’t overlook it for more attractive food sources. When dealing with intense cockroach infestations, several small bait placements can enhance bait efficacy.
